*Back in 2013, Capatriti was accused of deceptively labelling their 100% Pure Olive Oil. The class-action lawsuit nearly forced the company into bankruptcy. Instead they did the honorable thing, settled the lawsuit and, more importantly, confronted the issue head on. They took the next two years, working closely with the United States Department of Agriculture, to become the first (and only) brand to earn the USDA Quality Monitoring Program Seal for both their Extra Virgin Olive Oil and 100% Pure Olive Oil. Earning that seal is a rigorous process that requires ongoing, unannounced visits to review production processes, quality assurance measures, records, and sampling. It’s a lot to go through. And a mouthful to say.
